His forthcoming book is Religion in China: Survival and Revival under Communism (Oxford University Press). Joseph B. Tamney (1933-2009) was Emeritus Professor of Sociology at Ball State University. He received his Ph. D. from Cornell University in 1962. He published seventy-seven articles in scientific research journals and nine books on topics including religion, politics, and community.
