An honest and open look into the surgical profession.-- Library Journal

Author Information

Paul A. Ruggieri, MD, is a practicing board-certified general/laparoscopic surgeon who has been operating for over twenty years. Dr. Ruggieri performed his surgical training at the world-renowned Washington University School of Medicine, Barnes Hospital, in St. Louis. He then spent three years as an active duty general surgeon in the U.S. Army. Currently, he is former chief of the department of surgery at a large community hospital in Fall River, Massachusetts, the very hospital he helped build as an ironworker before attending medical school nearly thirty years ago. Dr. Ruggieri has written several books for patients, including The Cost of Cutting and The Surgery Handbook. He lives in Rhode Island with his wife and three stepsons. Visit his website at www.paulruggieri.com. Eric Martin, the narrator of close to 100 audiobooks, is an AudioFile Earphones Award winner and Audie Award finalist. He has written and directed original comedy programming for Audible Channels and for the Howl network, including the series Brief Interviews with Hideous Monsters and Festival Supreme, a documentary of Tenacious D. He is also the creator of the hit podcast and web series This American Wife, a gentle parody of the public radio format. Eric works as a casting director, and lives in Los Angeles.
