Overview

A poetry book for young girls and women, struggling with topics like racism, girlhood, female rage, trauma, death, loss, and loneliness. Writing these poems helped me get through a tough time in life, and I hope they help you. Poetry truly saved me, whether it was writing my own or just reading and listening to someone else's, my only wish is that it saves someone else somewhere. Poetry is such a beautiful art form that I didn't appreciate until I started writing it but I'm so glad I do now.

Author Information

I am a seventeen-year-old poet and music lover. I started writing poetry when I was 15 and became a part of this small poetry community on TikTok, where young girls will post videos to music they like and put their poems in the caption. When I was 16, I started thinking about writing a poetry book, but I was going to do it later in life, but my mother and brother assured me that there is no better time than now. Writing makes me feel so much better, I was once so depressed and in a terrible place in my life, but writing has truly saved me. I am not perfect, but I am better. Being a part of a poetry community lets me know that I am not alone, they are more girls like me, who feel misunderstood, have trauma from school, and are the weirdos of the family. I hope that this book and my future writing reaches young women and girls who relate and help them get through this crazy thing called life.
