Bryan Boling is an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner in the Division of Critical Care Medicine with the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Kentucky. He has over 15 years of experience in healthcare, focusing on emergency and critical care. In addition to his clinical practice in the Neuroscience ICU, Cardiothoracic ICU, and Surgical ICU, Dr. Boling is the author of a number of published journal articles and textbook chapters and has spoken at national and international conferences. He is currently the Contributing Editor for Neurocritical Care for the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN) journal Critical Care Nurse. He has served as an item writer for the AACN Cardiac Surgery Certification exam and is on the Society of Critical Care Medicine’s Fundamentals of Critical Care Support course development committee. He is actively involved with the education of nurse practitioner students and nurse practitioner critical care fellows. Kevin Hatton, MD, FCCM, is an Associate Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology and Surgery at the University of Kentucky. He is the Division Chief of Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine and the Program Director for the Anesthesiology Critical Care Medicine Fellowship. He also serves as a Medical Co-Director of the Critical Care Nurse Practitioner Fellowship. Clinically, he is the medical Director of Neurocritical Care and frequently works with APRN, APRN fellows, Critical Care Medicine Fellows and residents in the Neuroscience ICU, the cardiovascular ICU, and the Surgical ICU at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center. He serves on several national committees for the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the Society of Critical Care Anesthesiologists, and the American Society of Anesthesiologists and has been instrumental in improving education and educational products across these organizations. Tonja Hartjes is a critical care nurse practitioner with over 30 years of experience in many different capacities. She is currently Associate DNP Program Director at Abilene Christian University'and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She is a researcher and peer reviewer for Critical Care Nurse and the American Journal of Nursing. Additionally, she serves on the editorial boards for Annals of Nursing and Practice, Journal of Palliative Care and Medicine and Journal of Pain & Relief. Furthermore, she has served as editor for the 7th edition' of AACNs “Core Curriculum” text, Academic Education contributing editor for Critical Care Nurse, and guest editor for Critical Care Nursing Clinics of North America. She is widely published and is frequently invited to present at national and international conferences. Furthermore, Dr. Hartjes is a member and active volunteer within the American Association of Critical Care Nurses and Society of Critical Care Medicine, serving on various practice taskforces, certification exam item writing, research grant, scholarship and abstract review panels and committees.
