OverviewFungal infections represent one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality in people living with HIV, especially in advanced stages of immunosuppression. The aim of this study was to analyze the complications of fungal infections in HIV patients hospitalized at the Hospital de Infectología ""Dr. José Daniel Rodríguez Maridueña"" between December 2022 and May 2025. A quantitative methodology of descriptive, cross-sectional design was used, based on the analysis of the hospital database that included 1260 patients, sociodemographic, clinical and microbiological variables were collected. Descriptive statistics and odds ratio analysis were applied.Among the main results it was found that 17% of patients presented some fungal infection, being candidiasis the most prevalent (95.56%), followed by histoplasmosis (12.14%) and cryptococcosis (4.84%), concomitant opportunistic diseases such as tuberculosis (36.9%), toxoplasmosis (9.84%) and viral infections (9.76%) were identified, overall mortality was 17.8%, being higher among those with fungal infections.
