She started in the martial arts in 1987 and has since then achieved black belts in Kenpo karate, kickboxing and street freestyle. She has strong interests in combat history, ranging from ancient to modern wars, and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Military History from Norwich University in Vermont.
