He served as the associate editor of the old Thoroughbred Record for several years, as the associate editor of The Thoroughbred Times for several years, and was a staff writer for Blood-Horse magazine for four years. He has two Eclipse Awards for magazine writing, and has also received honourable mentions in the Eclipse competition on four other occasions. George Ennor was a racing correspondent for The Sporting Life for almost 40 years and before becoming a regular columnist on the Racing Post. Until his death in late 2005, he was a consultant to the sports agency Racenews. He owned shares in some horses - most notably Pelours (who won in his colours) and Gales Cavalier.
