Overview

This journey into the Classical Arabic world travels 1300 years back in time to the cradle of Islamic civilization. Using original historical materials, it explores the sacrosanct language of the scriptural sources of Islam. Complete Classical Arabic covers the key grammatical concepts and structure of the language, using prose from a range of disciplines to provide an authoritative introduction. Throughout the book, grammar is explained and reinforced with a wide range of exercises, including classical transliteration and translation practice. With an overview of the history of the language and its state today, as well as a guide to using dictionaries, this is an ideal language course for anyone interested in learning Classical Arabic.
