Compassionate Self-Care for New Moms is truly an eye-opener. I became a mother in my 30's and although I had my family support during that stage of my life, there were voids that I felt. Situations in which I caught myself doubting to be or become a good mother. This book would have been a lifesaver during my pregnancy and after it. I was raised by a generation of women who would say ""You are a strong, will-powered woman,"" and ""that's just part of being a mother,"" or even worse, that your 'baby blues' or postpartum solution is a bucket of cold water to your face. Yes, my family was going to cure everything with an ice bucket challenge. I battled through some big hurdles but I solved things by running, which is a big part of my life, and just sucking it in. As I was reading this book, I saw every huge boulder I encountered as well as every small pebble I kicked around. This book is a true guide and should be given to every new mother and even to mothers who have grown kids. Some of us still carry these ""ghostly burdens"" This is a true guide on where we should seek help and to better understand ourselves as women who are entering or are still in this endless path that is motherhood. Katherine Reyes This insightful book offers relatable humor, practical tips and exercises. It's a reminder to be present with the process of having a newborn. Be an observer without emotional attachment to society pressures. You are not alone and there is support. Be gentle and kind with yourself.
