OverviewMore and more elderly people want to stay at home for as long as possible and, where possible, seek support from non-profit or private non-hospital services. The latter have created a niche for migrants, in which almost exclusively women are employed. In the field of 24-hour care, a care model has developed for care migrants who commute between their country of origin and their place of work for periods ranging from two weeks to several months. This is made possible by the free movement of persons and a large number of placement agencies, many of which operate in a legal grey area. This book examines the care migration labour market and the challenges faced by care migrants. The aim is to highlight the opportunities available to social work to positively influence this sector of care work and to provide migrants with support in their field of work. Among other things, it addresses the question of how the resources (skills, competences and strengths) of care migrants can be strengthened.
