Barbara Ellen Smith is former Research Coordinator of the Southeast Women's Employment Coalition and the author of Digging Our Own Graves: Coal Miners and the Struggle over Black Lung Disease (Temple). Alex Willingham is Research Director of the Southern Regional Council.
