Maria Claudia Franca is a professor in communication disorders and sciences at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where she is also the current recipient of the Mark and Susan Ashley Endowed Professorship. She holds a Ph.D. in rehabilitation and M.S. in communication disorders and sciences from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Valerie Boyer is a tenured associate professor in communication disorders and sciences at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where she is also the current recipient of the Mark and Susan Ashley Endowed Professorship. She holds a Ph.D. in special education and M.S. in communication disorders and sciences from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
