OverviewCommon low back pain is the most frequent form of low back pain, with a prevalence of 80 to 85% in the general population. In children, it affects around 30% and causes limitations in school and social activities. Despite this high prevalence, it remains neglected by children, families, and doctors. Studies have identified several risk factors in the development of symptoms, such as school furniture, the type of school bag, family history of low back pain, being overweight, and high-level sports, without establishing direct causes. The objectives of our study are: first, to determine the prevalence of common low back pain in children and adolescents; and second, to identify the factors directly associated with the symptoms, which will enable us to establish a preliminary program for the prevention of juvenile low back pain. We conducted a cross-sectional analytical study of 444 students, 201 boys and 243 girls, with an average age of 14.95 years. The prevalence was 22.3% CI at 95%: [18.2-26.2].
