Overview

"Founded in 1952, the journal ""Diabetes"" has brought leading diabetes theories and concepts to clinical and research settings. Perspectives in Diabetes, a special article section launched in 1988, built on this tradition by highlighting the guiding principles of some of the field's most innovative diabetes researchers. The third in a three-part series, ""Commentaries on Perspectives in Diabetes, Volume 3"", compiles many of the Perspectives in Diabetes' articles published from 1998 to 2002 and includes commentaries on them by the original authors. From this unique vantage point, the authors describe what motivated them when they first wrote these articles and where their research has traveled since then. Through the commentaries, the authors give new life to these innovative ideas, ensuring an enhanced role in the development of newer and more effective diabetes therapies. These original Perspectives in Diabetes articles reveal the thinking that guides researchers and clinicians toward discovery and invention."
