Overview

Scroll below for a video of the score as played in Finale. The hymn, Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing , is most commonly sung in America to a folk tune entitled Nettleton . In areas outside the United States, the hymn text often uses the tune Warrenton from Sacred Harp Music, or Trust , composed by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy.The hymn is one of redemption and dedication. It is an acknowledgement of sin and waywardness and God's redemptive, saving grace. Nettleton is a simple AABA tune in 3/4 time signature. In this feature work, playable by mature high school students and advanced instrumentalists, the key elements include contrasting legato and articulations. Beginning in Concert key of D major, there are modulations into the major concert keys of Eb, G, and Ab. This will be an enjoyable, captivating listening experience for any audience. The volume contains two scores of the same arrangement, one prepared for brass quintet (with instrumental parts) and the other for trombone quintet (or trombone choir). Parts can be flexibly mixed to form any combination of upper and low brass, including euphoniums. A part is included for treble clef baritone.
