Corey Phillips has been a student of preparedness since he was 9 years old when he had a full-on panic attack during a severe thunderstorm in Villa Grove IL, that had spawned several tornadoes at once. Corey ran crying into an interior closet gripped with the most intense fear that to this day he has never encountered again, while at the same time, the rest of his family were watching the storms as the twisters were moving away from their location. After the storms were over Corey still wouldn't leave the confines of his closet until the most profound words he will ever hear changed his life forever. His father Allen Phillips sat down in the closet next to him comforted him and stated, Son, I know you were scared of that storm but understand that the best way to overcome ANY fear is to learn everything you can about something so that you understand it, respect it, but not fear it. This led Corey on a journey of discovery that, to this day, directs his life. He would go to the library (That's the place people went before the Internet) and read every book on every subject that he was fearful of and learned the respect he should have but also not be as anxious about that subject. This also led him to join the military and become an All-Source Intelligence Analyst, which opened even more doors for him to learn about another area of interest that shaped the course of his life; Situational Analysis. Situational Analysis is taking a complex situation and breaking it down to its core elements so that a decision can be made as to what is the best course of action to take in each situation. This training allowed Corey to look at everything more clearly and know that the most complex situations can be broken down to its simplest narrative and could be overcome by anyone who is willing to decide and do the work. Corey has dedicated his life to learning new ways to overcome and inspire others, he became a student of an organization known as LIFE (Living Intentionally for Excellence) that has taught him leadership skills as well as how to help others help themselves through anything with a self-directed educational process.
