Overview

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a set of inflammatory condition affecting colon and small intestine. There are two kinds of inflammatory bowel diseases - colitis and Crohn's disease. Crohn's disease can affect any part of the gastrointestinal tract from mouth to anus wherein colitis affects the colon and rectum.
