Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationCLAUDIA NEWMAN has been writing creatively for years; however, it was her involvement as a proud parent of the Founder of Purpose Preparatory Academy in Nashville, Tennessee that inspired her to become a published author. Understanding the power of representation, she was motivated to share with the world the stories of excellence, vibrancy, and self-determination that she has witnessed firsthand from the unified community of scholars, staff, and families of Purpose Prep. By creating powerful connections between them and the dynamic characters in her stories, she is excited to ignite even more joy for reading for children. Claudia has worked for several nonprofit organizations in the field of social work. She studied at Savannah State University where she earned a master's degree in social work. She is a mother, grandmother, and most recently, a great-grandmother, and she enjoys traveling with her beloved husband, Lawrence, family, and friends. LAGRA NEWMAN is the Founder and Head of School of Purpose Preparatory Academy, one of the highest performing elementary schools in Tennessee. A public, non-selective charter school, Purpose Prep has earned Reward School status for being among the top 5% of schools in the state of Tennessee for academic performance. Lagra has been captivated by her mother's writing since she was a young girl. Taking it upon herself to become her mother's ""daught-a-ger,"" she was proud to work together to bring the stories of the phenomenal scholars of Purpose Prep to life. Inspired by her scholars' love for learning and joy for reading, she is thrilled for them to see themselves, their journey of excellence, and their experiences, reflected in literature. She is also excited for future scholars, including her daughter, Nile, to be a part of the legacy established by Purpose Prep. Lagra earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and Spanish at Vanderbilt University, a master's degree in Teaching at Loyola Marymount University, and a master's degree in Education Leadership from Teachers College of Columbia University.
