Overview

For over five years, an individual has been writing checks that do not have sufficient funds in the accounts. He is able to obtain state driver's licenses that he uses to open checking accounts with just enough money to keep the accounts open. He does not really steal other people's identification, he just makes up the names that he uses. For over the years, he has cost communities in Southern California thousands of dollars and has caused police departments to run in circles trying to catch him. That is, until one police department calls in the Cold Case Investigators to assist them. It is through a serious mistake on the part of the check writer that he is finally caught by one of the private investigators. My philosophy is simple: If you take three negative words and turn them into positive words, anything is possible. These three words are simple: I can't become I can do it; I don't become I do it, and I won't become I will do it. Changing these three simple words mean you can do anything you want. Merrill Vaughan, born in 1949 in California, is a retired U.S. Air Force veteran who has dedicated his life to community service and education. After serving overseas, he became actively involved in local committees and served as a substitute teacher in New Hampshire, where he inspired countless students. His passion for storytelling led to the creation of the Cold Case Investigators series, beginning with The Kidnapping and followed by The Happy Paper Hanger. Merrill believes in transforming negativity into positivity, embodying this philosophy through his writing and community engagement. He resides in Pittsfield, NH, with his wife, Diane.
