Reviews

""Cognitive Behavioral Precision Therapy is an indispensable tool for the busy clinician. This highly accessible resource provides the necessary framework to evaluate clients, precisely identify key maladaptive processes, and implement state-of-the-art techniques and interventions. Our clinical practice will certainly be integrating this guide."" --Bob Leahy, PhD, director of Cognitive Therapy NYC, and clinical assistant professor of psychology in psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College --Bob Leahy, PhD ""An emerging trend in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for emotional disorders is the importance of targeting the core psychological mechanisms thought to maintain these disorders, without losing sight of the uniqueness of each client. Cognitive Behavioral Precision Therapy is an example of this thoughtful approach. I highly recommend this book to clinicians looking for a streamlined yet effective CBT tailored to the vulnerabilities (and strengths) of each client."" --Michael A. Tompkins, PhD, ABPP, codirector of the San Francisco Bay Area Center for Cognitive Therapy, faculty at the Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and author of The Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Workbook --Michael A. Tompkins, PhD, ABPP ""By combining idiographic assessment with a limited number of transdiagnostic treatment targets, Cognitive Behavioral Precision Therapy provides a practical framework for identifying which mechanisms drive distress for each individual patient. The authors offer clinicians a systematic, evidence-based way to personalize care, building on the clinical wisdom practitioners already bring to treatment."" --Shannon Sauer-Zavala, PhD, treatment-personalization researcher at the University of Kentucky; and author of a forthcoming personalized intervention for borderline personality disorder (BPD), The BPD Compass Workbook --Shannon Sauer-Zavala, PhD ""Elegant in its simplicity yet masterful in its precision, McKay and colleagues provide a detailed road map that illuminates a path from symptoms to solutions in clear, doable steps. Cognitive Behavioral Precision Therapy identifies core processes underpinning psychological problems, points clinicians to targeted interventions that help clients get 'unstuck' from the ineffective coping patterns driving their ongoing struggles, and offers hope for improved emotional resilience."" --Rochelle I. Frank, PhD, assistant clinical professor of psychology at the University of California, Berkeley; and coauthor of The Transdiagnostic Road Map to Case Formulation and Treatment Planning --Rochelle I. Frank, PhD ""This book offers a clear and practical guide to enhancing CBT by addressing the cognitive and behavioral mechanisms that underlie many emotional difficulties--including stress, emotion-driven behaviors and avoidance, and cognitive misappraisals. The intervention strategies are evidence-based, clearly explained, and easy to implement, and the volume is enriched with excellent client-focused handouts and worksheets. This is an outstanding resource that clinicians will return to again and again."" --Martin M. Antony, PhD, professor of psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University, and coauthor of The Shyness and Social Anxiety Workbook and The Anti-Anxiety Program --Martin M. Antony, PhD
