Overview

This volume on Cognitive Athletic Training in climbing and bouldering provides exercises to train cognitive abilities alongside the athleticism and motor skills of climbers. As the third book in the Cognitive Athletic Training series, it is marked by its clear structure, which is divided into a theoretical and practical part. With essential theory provided in the first part, the practical section presents exercises accompanied by numerous photos, allowing easy understanding and straightforward implementation in training regimen. It provides guidance and exercises designed to train athleticism, motor abilities, and cognitive skills for all ability levels, ranging from novices in physical education to highly accomplished climbers. Particular emphasis is placed on anticipation, perception, attention, creativity, intelligence, and memory, alongside the motor abilities of strength, endurance, speed, and coordination.  This book is structured in a clear didactic and methodological approach, featuring numerous examples and offering a concise, well-organized presentation in the theoretical section. Numerous photos illustrate the implementation of the various exercises in the practical section, which constitutes the main part of the book. The book includes a foreword by Max Prinz, 2019 German Bouldering Champion and IFSC World Cup climber. This book represents a first step toward a holistic training approach that combines physical skills and cognition. It offers a wide range of exercises that allow readers to make their training more varied and at the same time more targeted.
