Overview

The Code of Federal Regulations is a codification of the general and permanent rules published in the Federal Register by the Executive departments and agencies of the United States Federal Government. 49 CFR Parts 400-571 covers both the United States Coast Guard (USCG) within the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) within the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). In this volume, you will find rules, processes, and procedures relating to the safety and approval of cargo containers, including testing and examination of containers, control and enforcement in Chapter IV covering Parts 400-499 within the USCG and DHS.
