The high incidence of severe and profound hearing loss, the increase in life expectancy, hearing loss detection programs, the dissemination of the benefits of cochlear implants and the improvements in social coverage, generated an increase in the number of cochlear implant users and encouraged the creation of teams of professionals specialized in this field. On the other hand, the constant technological advances achieved by the manufacturers of implantable hearing devices demand a permanent updating by professionals.
