OverviewCan sports and recreation leadership influence moral character? Coach: A Story of Amateur Sports explores this question. This is a story of one man's moral vision of the importance which amateur sports and recreation could, and should, play in human character development. During his fifty-year career in high school and collegiate athletics, as a coach and a player, and as a ranger naturalist in Yellowstone Park, Lowell Biddulph developed his own distinctive brand of sports leadership with a value system firmly anchored in his religious faith. He established himself not only as a winning coach, but also as an influential teacher of thousands of young men and women who played or studied under his guidance. B.Y.U. Health Science Professor Dr. Gordon Lindsay calls Coach an engaging and inspiring read. Its message could not be more timely. Dr. Charles M. Grant, former professional football player, Ricks College Coach and Athletic Director, declares: Thousands were taught and touched by Lowell and Ruth Biddulph at Ricks College. Dr. Don Rydalch, former coach and Director of Athletics at Ricks College describes Lowell Biddulph as a firm pillar of gentle leadership. Dr. Phil Allsen, form player, coach, and B.Y.U. Professor of Exercise Science, calls the influence of Coach Biddulph a legacy for good that will last forever. Coach is an illustrated paperback, 330 pages in length, published in August 2013.
