A physics professor at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, he also serves as Dean of the Kennedy College of Sciences. He works on the interaction of light with various types of matter. Noureddine has researched using light to detect early signs of disease including cancers. A native of Algeria, Noureddine received his Diplôme d'Études Supérieures in Physics from the Université des sciences et de la technologie Houari-Boumediene, Algeria, and his M.Sc. and D.Phil., both in Physics, from the University of Sussex, England.
