Author Information

Simon Mills trained first as a doctor in Trinity College Dublin and then, while practising in a busy urban general practice, as a lawyer in University College Dublin. As both a medical and law student, he was active in various student societies: he was - at various times - President of the Irish Medical Students' Association, a finalist in a national intercollegiate television quiz programme, an actor with a variety of people who have since gone on to fame and fortune and a runner-up in the World Universities Debating Championships. At University College Dublin, he was also a gold medallist of the Literary and Historical Society, a medallist in Constitutional Law and a Swift McNeill Scholar. Following two years at Dublin's Honorable Society of King's Inns, he was called to the Irish Bar in 2002 and now practises as a barrister in medical and professional regulatory law and has been involved in a number of the leading Irish cases in the areas. For Bloomsbury, he is the author or co-author of two books and has also been a contributor to several other texts. He contributes regularly to Irish print and broadcast media on medico-legal and medical ethical matters. He lives just outside Dublin with his family and spends the summer growing vegetables and wondering why the cricketing gods are not kinder to him.
