He trained for over 3 years as a resident in plastic and reconstructive surgery before switching to a career in dermatology. He completed dermatology residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA where he served as chief resident. Dr. Brownstone also completed a fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco Department of Dermatology in psoriasis, phototherapy and clinical research and a fellowship in melanoma at the National Society for Cutaneous Medicine/Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine.
