Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor Information"Dr. Arati Bora Baruah is a retired Senior Specialist Engineer who worked for Boeing for 35 years and as flight test engineer for the last decade. Born in Guwahati, she came of age being educated in local educational institutions including Cotton College and Guwahati University. She continued her education in the USA at Indiana University, Bloomington, followed by University of Washington, Seattle. She completed her PhD. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Washington. As a ""loaned executive"" she was sent by Boeing to be professor at a local engineering college for two years. She continued to be adjunct professor for another decade. Most of her career was at Boeing.For the past ten years she has dedicated her life to the water issues of India and global warming by research and applying her knowledge and experience in science to that end. Her accomplishments, after her retirement from Boeing, include the study of the circular nature of Brahmaputra River by working with models; proving why the rivers Teesta, Santosh and Manas should not be linked; investigating the manmade floods of Guwahati; writing various articles in Amar Asom regarding Subansiri Dam and the deadly folly of making mega dams for hydroelectricity in the Eastern Himalayas pointedly due to their soft-soil nature, and explaining flooding in terms of rivers accumulating slit and sedimentation.
