OverviewClemens Krauss restlessly shuttles across history; his vehicles are painting, video art, sculpture, and performance. Yet Krauss is not "" just"" an artist, he is also a psychoanalyst and physician. As such, he has first-hand experience of time as the defining factor of existence, daring him to play with it. The bosom of painting is where he feels safest after his hazardous excursions back into his youth and forward into death. Executed in thick paints, his work is physical, material, which is also to say, it exists in time: everything passes away, even the picture. Evanescent, more than anything, are encounters of the sort Krauss stages as part of his psychoanalytical practice; all that remains is the indelible impression they leave. Under his direction the exhibition Clemens Krauss Massen took place in the 2021/22 at the Haus am Lü tzowplatz. Anna Meinecke is a journalist and writer. She works at Zeit Online and is editor-in-chief of the art magazine gallerytalk.net. Antje Schunke is an art historian and curator as well as a research associate at the Kunsthalle Rostock. Tereza de Arruda is an art historian and works as an independent curator. She was born in Sã o Paulo and studied art history in Berlin, where she has lived since 1989. She has been co-curator and advisor of the Havana Biennial since 1997 and of the International Biennial Curitiba since 2009. Clemens Krauss (* 1981) is an Austrian visual artist. He lives and works in Berlin. After studying medicine in Graz, Clemens Krauss studied fine art at the Berlin University of the Arts and in London. After graduating from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, scholarships and exhibitions took him on extended stays abroad to Brazil, Japan and Australia.
