OverviewKate Nelson didn't pull the first trigger, but she rode with the men who did. The stagecoach robbery was supposed to be clean. It was meant to be quick money, with no bodies, and a chance to disappear and start over with Charlie. Instead, it left deputies dead, civilians slaughtered, and the Oregon Territory burning with vengeance. Now Kate is running through the Clear Lake wilderness with a wounded lover, stolen money, and the sickening realization that she chose the wrong allies. The outlaw who promised them freedom is far crueler than she ever allowed herself to believe. And the sheriff who is hunting them isn't a hero. He helped plan the crime, and now he wants every last dollar. Out here, the law is corrupt. The outlaws are monsters. Kate stands somewhere in between. She didn't want bloodshed, but survival demands choices. At Clear Lake, salvation isn't about innocence. It's about who you're willing to become.
