She attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, receiving a degree in theater arts and psychology. She later completed her master's degree in special education at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas. She is a former teacher, having taught for several years in the public school system. Although she has written poetry and music, this is her first novel. She has since written a second novel, with an idea for a third!
