Overview

The concept of grandparenting styles goes beyond the practices of grandparents. Style is, in fact, the context in which grandparents operate in socialising their grandchildren according to their beliefs and values. The theme of grandparenting is defined as the kinship bond between grandparents and grandchildren, the latter being in childhood or adolescence. Thus, grandparenthood creates a link between paediatrics and gerontology. There is no consensus in the literature on which components are part of the classification of grandparent styles with adolescent grandchildren. There is a lack of standardisation in the studies conducted, as evidenced by the various methodological approaches described in the literature.
