OverviewMany of the Classic Motorcycles which appear in this book were very deserving, and very well known, but some have quietly fallen by the wayside or have been forgotten entirely. But they have each earned their place in the very detailed, in-depth series of road reports published herein, all of which were published some years ago in several of Australia's foremost motorcycle magazines and newspapers. I hope these great motorcycles have enjoyed their opportunity to live again. These machines include the Vincent Rapide and Black Shadow siblings; Ariel Square Four and Ariel Leader 250; 1938/51/56 Gold Star BSAs; Rudge Special; Scott Squirrel; Matchless 600cc OHC Vee-Four; R69 BMW/Steib sidecar; WW2 Zundapp outfit; Velocette Thruxton; Munch Mammoth; Benelli Six; Triumph DOHC Bandit prototype; Bimota Suzuki; and too many others to include here. And every one of these once-famous motorcycles has a great and famous tale to tell. I have tried to talk about every one of these 32 machines it was my privilege and honour to ride, and then to report upon. I trust you will enjoy reading about them as much as I enjoyed riding them. Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationLester Morris is the longest serving, and probably the most published, specialist motorcycle writer in Australia, with most of his peers considering him to be 'iconic', or even 'legendary'. His articles, on simple maintenance and safety, were first published in REVS Motorcycle News (paper) in 1968; followed for the next 50 years by test reports of new models, classic motorcycles, race reports, and a series of humorous columns published in 18 of Australia's topselling motorcycle magazines. From 1948 he spent over 20 years in the trade; his first book, Motorcycling in Australia, published by McMillan in 1976. Lester is also a noted race commentator, often featuring as an expert motorcycle compere on Torque, a 1970s National TV Motoring programme. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
