Overview

"Abstract: Sliding clamps tether DNA polymerases to DNA to increase the processivity of synthesis. The Escherichia coli γ complex loads the β sliding clamp onto DNA in an ATP-dependent reaction in which ATP binding and hydrolysis modulate the affinity of the γ complex for β and DNA. This dissertation covers research describing the kinetic mechanism of clamp loading by gamma complex. Dissertation Discovery Company and University of Florida are dedicated to making scholarly works more discoverable and accessible throughout the world. This dissertation, ""Clamp Loader of Escherichia Coli Dna Polymerase III"" by Christopher R. Williams, was obtained from University of Florida and is being sold with permission from the author. A digital copy of this work may also be found in the university's institutional repository, IR@UF. The content of this dissertation has not been altered in any way. We have altered the formatting in order to facilitate the ease of printing and reading of the dissertation."
