OverviewCyrene, the only Greek colony in Africa, was a metropolis of great size and great monumentality, especially from the Hellenistic age onwards. One topic of research that had not yet been studied in depth concerns the theme of water management, to be understood as an analysis of the processes and means that allowed the city to use rainwater and groundwater - i.e. water supply and disposal systems - but also as the evaluation of the role that water took on within the different spatial contexts (for example in sanctuaries). The work represents an organic synthesis of the material published on the subject for the site of Cyrene and for the main cities of Cyrenaica, which also makes use of archive documents and bibliography of difficult access. To this material are integrated the data obtained of in recent year' s surveys. The final objective is to provide a diachronic picture inherent to the water cycle in Cyrene, presenting all the existing archaeological and epigraphic documentation, functional to the theme of the research.
