Multiple bacterial infections may be treated with this drug. Ciprofloxacin is a quinolone antibiotic. The development of bacteria is stymied, which is the intended effect. Only bacterial illnesses may be cured with this medication. In the case of viral infections, it will be ineffective (such as common cold, flu). Overuse of any antibiotic may reduce its effectiveness against subsequent infections if it is not really necessary. Consult your physician or pharmacist if you have any concerns. This drug is often given twice daily (every 12 hours), once in the morning and once in the evening. Before using, give the bottle a good shake for 15 seconds. Use a specific measuring spoon or gadget to ensure an accurate dosage. Do not try to measure out the right dosage with a regular spoon. Avoid putting the suspension in your mouth and chewing it. Because of the risk of clogging, the suspension should not be used with feeding tubes.
