Reviews

From the book reviews: Chronic Postsurgical Pain, a first edition edited by G. Mick and V. Guastella, is a thorough ... review of the risk factors, evaluation, and preventative strategies for chronic pain resulting from surgical intervention. ... the anesthesiologist whose focus is on patient-centred postsurgical pain would appreciate reading this book and possibly gain new insight into some research being performed in this field. (Ronald B. George, Canadian Journal of Anesthesia/Journal canadien d'anesthesie, Vol. 61, 2014) The purpose is to highlight the silent epidemic of chronic postsurgical pain and provide some evidence-based guidelines for its management. These worthy objectives are thoroughly met. ... Although the book is intended for chronic pain physicians, anyone who treats such patients, like primary care physicians, would find it very helpful. ... a good read for surgeons who often find it hard to believe how prevalent this condition is. ... This is the only book wholly dedicated to chronic postsurgical pain. (Tariq M. Malik, Doody's Book Reviews, April, 2014)
