Born in Hampshire in 1971, Shirley Faichney is a qualified childhood practitioner, holding a BA in Childhood Practice. Shirley has lived in Fife since marrying husband Billy in 1992. They have 9 children, one guinea pig and two old hens! With nearly 2 decades experience in the field of education, Shirley has worked with a variety of children from 3 to 18 years she has also worked in a wide variety of settings, both charitable, community based and local authority, both indoors and outside. Shirley was listed as one of the 40 most influential fifers for 2 consecutive years and as a volunteering enthusiast for over 30 years, she was shocked and delighted in 2016 to be awarded a British Empire Medal in recognition of her 'contribution to children and young people'. Inspired by her love of the outdoors, and of traditional styles of learning, in early 2017 Shirley founded the company Natural Learners and writes a modest blog; naturallearners.wordpress.com. Having written and recounted children's stories for many years and she is now delighted to be pursuing her ultimate dream of combining her experiences and talents into one passion... children's stories. Her enchanting 'Adventures of Aidy and Wyn' stories will entertain, inspire, lead and support readers to discover a hidden imaginative world ...and the 'natural' learning opportunities that world offers.
