Overview

Studies in Christian Muslim Relations is volume seven in this series. This series will eventually have eight volumes of a case study in Christian-Muslim relations. Each volume deals with a different aspect of these relations-violence, secularism, Muslim law and more from Christian and Muslim perspectives. In this volume, even more so than in the earlier ones, you will hear the voice of Christians under duress and pressure from their Muslim compatriots. Their voice is loud and clear-and usually reasonable. Admittedly, not always correct. Why prefer secular to Muslim law? And what is the relationship between secular law, Christian law and Muslim law? The Christian attitude is based less on principle than on many years of experience-and a degree of ignorance. But the arguments in Volume 6 for Muslim law seem just as powerful, right and reasonable! So what gives? These two volumes shed light on these two contradictory but apparently reasonable quests. These two quests together form a case study of Christian-Muslim struggles for leadership. It sheds light also on the question why they do not simply adopt an attitude of live and let live. Here the Achilles' heel of multi-culturalism and multi-religion is exposed. Political correctness, their silent ally, in its effort to sweep it all under the carpet, has only prolonged the bloodshed. And yet we cannot solve the problems without either. About Volume 7: I sincerely thank you so much for taking the pains to go through my deep provocative writings. I enjoyed the most your comments and questions, which made my writings and ideas come alive. More importantly, your pointing out the areas of Christian weaknesses only go to strengthen our cause.
