Overview(Choral Collection). Dreams and longing themes that found their place in late Romantic music and can be found not only in German but also in Hebrew literature during this period. The songs by German-Jewish composers and lyricists were collected in the 1912 German-Jewish Songbook. As part of an arrangement competition organized by the German Choral Association, primarily German and Israeli composers were invited to create contemporary arrangements of these songs for various choral ensembles. The pieces each last approximately 3-6 minutes and are based either on a German or a Hebrew song, or a fusion of the two. They can be performed by chamber choirs in a sacred or secular context and are of medium difficulty. The premiere took place as part of the German Choral Festival 2025 in Nuremberg. The works build a musical bridge between cultures and are an important part of German-Jewish remembrance culture.
