Julie Fison began her career as a television news reporter, working in Australia, Asia and Europe. She camped with elephants in Kenya, shook hands with an orangutan in Borneo and survived on rat soup on a barge on the Mekong. She began writing for children after a family holiday on the Noosa River in Queensland.
