What in the World is Chocolate Covered Ants? By Courtney Baker-Oliver, Director Dr. Adrienne Taylor is a professor at a fictitious women's college where she's researching the plight of the Black woman in America. Chocolate Covered Ants chronicles the final leg of her research---an examination of Black men--to determine what effect (if any) they have on the mental, social and physical survival of Black women. Dr. Taylor has invited men from around the country to take part in her research. They are her subjects, her Chocolate Covered Ants. The intimate, revealing insights of the 'Ants' open a portal into the mind of Black men not previously articulated on stage.

About the Playwright Steven A. Butler, Jr. is a playwright, actor and the co-founder of Restoration Stage, Inc. which he launched with partner Courtney Baker-Oliver in 2005. He is an Arena Stage Playwright's Arena Playwriting Fellow. His plays include Chocolate Covered Ants, The Truth (About the Down Low), All That Glitters, Drag On!, The Katrina Project and The First Lady. His plays have been produced at Restoration Stage, Gusman Center for the Performing Arts (Miami), Bowie Center for the Performing Arts (Maryland), and Greensboro Coliseum (North Carolina). His has had readings and workshops at Howard University (Washington, DC) and Prince George's Community College (Maryland). Steven has been featured in numerous magazine and newspaper articles and on AOL Black Voices. His work has been commissioned by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). He is a graduate of Howard University and a veteran of the United States Air Force
