OverviewIn the only book dedicated to this prestigious Bordeaux wine, Nicholas Faith leads the reader on a tour through the sumptuous neo-classical Chateau Margaux, exploring its vineyards and elegant outbuildings. The dedicated people who produce the estate's exemplary wine take the reader behind the scenes to discover the chateaux's heritage. Divided into six sections, this book describes the history of the chateau through the dramas of revolution, disease, depression, and extensive redevelopment, and the fortuitous geology and geography that define the wine produced there. In the latter sections, Jean Dethier describes the magical atmosphere of the chateau, and three celebrated wine and food experts - George Lepre, Markus Del Monego and Shinya Tasaki - offer critical insight on the best combinations of fine food with Chateau Margaux's wines. The final section offers a useful chronology and assessment of the vintages from 1771 to the present.
