SONJA MARCELLE and her family emigrated from Guyana, South America to the United States. She spent much of her childhood in New Orleans, Louisiana and moved to New York right after graduating from high school. While in New York, she married and had one daughter. Several years later, she moved away from New York, following her divorce. Since that time, she has lived in North Carolina and currently resides in near Nashville, Tennessee. Her love of reading and writing has been instilled in her since she was a young girl. She wrote her first short story at the age of nine. Sonja's sixth-grade teacher was moved to tears by one of her original poems for a writing assignment. That teacher encouraged Sonja to nurture her natural talent and pursue a career in writing.
