CHARLES TALBOT PECK (1857-1882) was born on Henderson Plantation in East Carroll Parish, Louisiana to Dr. Isham and Emma (Henderson) Peck. Educated at the Reagan High School for Boys in Morristown, TN, he later attended Washington and Lee University. In 1876 he founded the Mossy Creek Independent newspaper, and in his early 20s moved to Cincinnati as a lawyer. In April 1879, at age 21, he used his ""idle hours"" to write his breathtaking novel and then published it as a serial. ANDY PECK is the 5th great-grandson of the founders of Mossy Creek (modern day Jefferson City, Tennessee), and 3rd great-grandson to Dr. Isham Talbot Peck and Emma Elizabeth (Henderson) Peck. Charley Peck was his third great-uncle. He is a devoted husband and father, military chaplain, family researcher, and author. He grew up as an Air Force brat, living in Germany and the southeastern and midwestern states of America. Andy has a Master of Divinity from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Missouri - Columbia. His favorite activities are spending time with his family, golfing, and whistling. He also performs the National Anthem on trumpet at military occasions, sporting events, and by special request. David Needs is a 1992 graduate of Carson Newman with a degree in Political Science. The former quarterback was a member of Eagle national championship teams in 1988 and 1989. Before coming to Carson Newman, he was the offensive coordinator at Mount Pleasant High School in Wilmington, Del.Needs earned a Master's degree in Education at Carson-Newman in 1998. He also is an instructor at C-N, teaching in several departments and has been a leading researcher of the historic Mossy Creek area.Needs and his wife, Melissa, who works in financial aid at C-N, reside in Morristown. The couple has three children - D.J., Tyler and Keely.
