Overview

Much has been written, and much more mythology created both of a positive and negative nature, about Charles Webster Leadbeater (1854-1934). He has been called a genius, a once in a lifetime enlightened higher being, and he has also been called a charlatan, a schizophrenic, and a sexual predator of prepubescent boys and teens. This book will attempt to separate fact from fiction. Yet, as in his own lifetime after we review all the available data about him, we are left with more questions and mysteries than we have answers and more contradictory behaviors than we have absolute conclusions. However, that said, to understand Leadbetter we must accept he was not a one-dimensional figure whose beliefs, writings, and actions, can be fully understood by only the laws of exoteric theology and presumed immutable rules and laws of Christian ethics and morality. This is because as a person, theologian, writer, and healer, Leadbeatter was not bound by the constraints of objective thinking or cultural reality most of us assume is all that exists. The fact is, Leadbeatter had a very vivid and productive esoteric life that informed his thinking, beliefs, and actions; both as a clairvoyant and as a Tantric healer.
