A teacher by profession with a BS, MEd, and EdS from Middle Tennessee State University, she has long been interested in local history and family history either authoring or co authoring several books and other publications: She is a member of the Elk River Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Archivist and Librarian for the Grundy County, TN, Heritage Center. Joan Marie Bishop Nasso was born May 17, 1950, in Chattanooga, TN, and spent the next 42 years in South Florida where she graduated from college, earning a degree in computer science. She has lived in Grundy County since 1992 and has raised her 3 sons here. She is currently the treasurer of the Elk River Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Membership Director of the Grundy County Historical Society.
