Overview

The ancient Druids were a Celtic intellectual class comprised of philosophers, priests, educators, historians, doctors etc. Remembered as the ""wise men of the trees"" the Druid priests revered and respected nature. They encoded their wealth of knowledge in a mystical runic alphabet known as the Ogham. With this alphabet they came up with a Celtic tree calendar that consisted of a solar year of 365 days, divided into 13 lunar months of 28 days each, plus an intercalary day called Nameless Day. According to Druid teaching, each tree has a dryad or tree spirit, which represents the spiritual nature in human beings.
