Author Information

In 1974, with his brother David, Jad Fair co-founded the lo-fi alternative rock group Half Japanese. Over the ensuing three decades, Jad has released nearly 50 records, and in the process, attracted a solid base of fans passionate about his pure, unbridled enthusiasm for rock and roll. His songs have been featured in the soundtracks of two major biographical films: Kurt Cobain: About A Son, and The Devil And Daniel Johnston, as well as in several animated shorts by Martha Colburn, two European films: the Swiss Luci et Maintenant, and the Italian Ora O Mai Piu. In 2004, Comedy Central's Trigger Happy TV show featured Crush On You, a song from the Teenage Fanclub & Jad Fair: Words of Wisdom and Hope album, in the soundtrack of episode #302. Jad's talent for album cover design (he designed many of Half Japanese's and all of his own solo album covers) led Jad to a second career as visual artist. His simple, joyous drawings and intricate, complex paper cuttings are shown in galleries across the United States, Canada, Europe, Austrailia, and Japan.
