Overview

IntroductionAutism is a mental imbalance that is gradually becoming a very common ailment in the United States. Experts believe that 1 out of every 45 children has this condition based on a widening spectrum. Autism is generally known as a condition that greatly affects social abilities and increases the risk of other sub-categorized mental conditions. As of now, there is currently no known cure for autism, but physicians treat some of its associated symptoms with appropriate medications that are found to subdue relatively inappropriate behavior. However, these medications are known to have some unfavorable side effects in children and adult taking them. While not everyone takes medications for their autism, those that do usually have a risk of having secondary issues.A large number of symptoms associated with autism can be treated with Cannabis. Cannabidiol (CBD) is particularly essential in the treatment of children experiencing autism as it helps lessen physiological tension and reduce inflammation thus possibly reducing many of the unfavorable symptoms associated with CBD.Recent studies have shown the beneficial effects of cannabinoids (in particular, dosing with CBD) in enhancing these symptoms associated with autism. CBD can positively affect symptoms of autism such as hyperactivity, sensitivity to smells, and hypersensitivity to physical sensations.Studies have found that finding a proper CBD dosage mediates attention and emotion in patients with autism. It is neuroprotective potentially reducing the degradation of the brain. CBD is found to be therapeutic for regulating mood, a major disorder associated with autism.Cannabinoids have additionally been reported to have effectively treated other symptoms of autism including rage, hostility, and anxiety. Cannabidiol provides the individual with a calm and relaxed behavior.Medical ResearchOne of the greatest concerns with regards to autism is the risk of experiencing seizures after the onset of puberty. A study published in the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health examined the participants administered with cannabinoids to control focal epilepsy. During the administration of CBD, these patients experience nearly control of the seizures. However, when these patients stopped this cannabinoids treatment, they noticed significant convulsions.Another research was conducted with the relationship of immune system dysregulation displayed in autistic children and cannabinoids. These children who also showed altered peripheral blood mononuclear cells were administered with cannabinoids. Significant improvements were noticed as cannabinoids receptor type 2 levels were markedly increased. This proves the beneficial therapeutic effects of cannabinoids for autism care and management.ConclusionAlthough there is currently no cure for Autism, studies have shown that cannabinoids are beneficial in treating and managing the symptoms and negative effects associated with autism spectrum disorder.
